The classroom redesign seeks to make the classroom more than just a functional educational space, but a
colorful and fun environment where kids can enjoy the classroom experience.
To achieve that goal, the traditional ceiling tiles were replaced with a slat system, which not only has a more playful appearance, it allows the noise to disperse in the area in between the ceiling and the concrete structure above.
The colorful drum shades were added in the ceiling at points of interest, one in the center above the grow lab, on above the fish tank, and another above sinks. The addition of more movable furniture allows for various arrangements that can be done easily to allow for the different activities that take place.
To address the issue of light, the design uses a vertical louvre system to control the amount of light penetration needed throughout the day. Various storage units were placed through out the design. The two sinks were moved together on the northern wall and storage replaced the space previously occupied by the sink.
