The main idea of the project is to have a nice space to have meals, to have a big area to cook and work in the kitchen, a lot of storage, really good materials and finishes and of course a great design, all of them using a limited budget.
The counter is elongated to have an island where 4-5 people can share a meal, and while not being used as a table, it serves as extra cooking/prep space as well. Moving the sink closer to the table area leaves the space in front of the window free, for all the cooking and prep work to be done there, with the nicest view and the best light. It is also really convenient to have the sink close to the island where, after finishing a meal, you can leave the dirty dishes.
Redoing the current door into a full window door gives much more natural light in the kitchen. Since the client wanted to change the window I proposed to unify the style between them.
The sink side of the kitchen is not in danger of getting splashed with food when someone is cooking, so I left all the cabinets on that side open, and furnished it with nice and durable stainless steel shelves, giving much more space to the kitchen and saving money since the budget is limited. The other part is done with closed cabinets to protect from any grease, steam, splashes of sauce, or anything else that food may give off while being cooked, and that could soil clean dishes.
The counter is proposed as white Carrara marble or white marble pattern quartz if the marble is too expensive in the area. A good counter is essential for a nice-looking, durable kitchen.
Finishes: White wood cabinets, stainless steel appliances and shelves, and white-washed floorboards. Walls would be painted in white and light blue as is shown in the pre-views.
