Please find attached 2 page PDF showing some recommendations for the exterior remodel of your house.
The house has a nice overall massing and the wood siding looks nice and looks in good condition but it is over whelming. It is proposed that the all the diagonal wood siding be removed to simplify the overall look of the house and for some of the vertical siding to be removed in at the back and a little on the garage side. The removed vertical siding is proposed to be reused at corners to wrap the siding around corners which ties the various sides of the house together. All the remaining siding should receive a new stain finish which. Several stains can be tested on small sections to see what works best.
The stone that currently exists is very dated - it is proposed that all the stone be removed and replaced with stucco which is an inexpensive exterior finish relative to others and is easy to maintain. Brick or other siding maybe be placed at the stucco areas and all depends on preference and budget but I think stucco would work. The wood siding already provides enough texture to the exterior so a less textured surface like stucco would be a nice contrast. Two colors are proposed for the stucco - an accent color that will match the fascia and doors and a field color that composes of the rest.
Other minor updates suggested is that the triangular window be replaced with a square or rectangular one, the exterior light fixtures be replaced with more modern ones and the front door be replaced with a more contemporary one to tie the whole exterior together.
