Living room and Master Bedroom remodeling project.
For master bedroom:
- mounting maple color wood on walls, adding closet, and bookshelves, extending desk space, redesigning closet space, and adding a cabinet to the laundry room on top of the washer and dryer.
For living room:
- removing existing crown moldings, changing floor finish, colors, redesigning the fire place, changing materials and transforming it into a sleek modern living space. The problem is that the current condition of the living room is dark and old fashioned. Walls have crown moldings, and old lighting fixtures. Hardwood floor is very dark. Fireplace has old-fashioned stone cladding.
-The master suite is rectangular shaped, and has a bathroom and closet space on one side, and a laundry room and alcove (that has a door to the outdoor terrace) on the other side. (Please see additional images in the “+” tab).
-The living room is square shaped, 555sqf, and attached to the dining room on one side and a winter garden on the other. It overlooks a large outdoor swimming pool at the backyard. One enters directly into the living room from the main entrance of my ranch type home. The room is two steps below the main entry level (see plan drawing in the “+” tab).
GOAL OF PROJECT:
-My goal is to turn the bedroom into a more efficient and organized space. In terms of material quality I would prefer a sleek modern effect as in the precedent image (see precedent image in the “Images” tab). I like the IKEA maple wood cabinets and the IKEA design feel very much.
-For the living room I would like soft colors on the walls, recess lighting and maple-color floors. Especially the stone cladding on top of the fire-place looks very 60’s and I want it removed with a modern look and perhaps a top natural or artificial skylight that projects a diffuse light onto the fireplace wall (see precedent image).
For dimensions and accurate drawings please look into the “+” tab.
WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR
- For Master Bedroom:
> I want to reorganize the alcove and create more bookshelves.
> I want to turn the small Niche on the wall (see B2 – left-hand side; also look at Legend for plan location) into a closet space.
> If possible, I want to extend my desk space up to the small fire place (see B4 – left-hand side).
> The space on top of the washer and dryer in the laundry room is unused, and I would like to have a cabinet over the washer and dryer so I can use the space (see MIS1 in additional images in the “+” tab).
> In the closet room, I have the problem that the top wood piece on top of the hangers makes it hard to put anything on the top-shelf, can you offer a solution? (see MIS6 in additional images in the “+” tab)
> I would like to put a folding mirror doors in front of the closet recesses - currently it is all open. (see MIS6 in additional images in the “+” tab)
> Please extend the closet on the corridor side (see Legend) by 4-6" into the bedroom. I need more space for wiring purposes in there.
- For Living Room:
> A sleek very modern fluid space.
> Double sided door to the adjacent kitchen area needs to be removed and turned into a mudroom.
Please avoid dark materials and bright colors.
