Great use of color. I think there's too much customization here for me to complete within budget but I really like the design.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful submission! We greatly appreciate the creative ideas you brought to our project - in particular, we like the pass through countertop from the kitchen to the living room, your color scheme, and the thought process that led you to keep the bathroom in its current location instead of relocating it to the center of the house. But we're a little uncomfortable with 1) the location of the sink in the inside corner of the kitchen, 2) the location of the cooktop at that end of the island, 3) the entryway to the bathroom remaining at the far corner of the kitchen. But we appreciate your efforts and very much like certain aspects of your design. Thank you again - we wish you continued success!
This design had one of the best internal layouts. It is also the most practical and buildable of all the submissions. Our only real issue is with the overall appearance. It is a little too conservative and utilitarian. I understand that it is difficult to interpret a client's aesthetic design wishes from a short description page for an internet competition. In a real client-designer relationship I feel that we would have been able to work with the designer to convey are wishes better. I had a very hard time rating this design, and I wish there were more than just 3 winners. We have not decided which house we will actually build. Please send your contact information to email@example.com if you'd be willing to perform additional follow-on work. Thanks again for participating in this competition.
This is a great design. I love that the designer listened to what I said about the kitchen. I like the layout; however, I am not a fan of the white walls. I would love to see some more architectural aspects like crown moulding.
like the simple design. Do not like white cabinets and lack of color. Appreciate the amount of work on this with all the supplements. Simplistic design which I could replicate.
I liked that this took a wholistic approach to our project, addressing access to the second floor above the addition, but also looking at redundancies and converting the dining room to an entrance hall and creating access to the former entrance hall. positive features were the high ceiling of the addition, the exposed beams, and the size. we really liked the additional graphic materials that were provided that helped us understand the proposed changes. on the downside the appearance of the addition was somewhat out of synch with the existing structure - for example the roofline was much flatter, and the windows on the front of the structure were not very attractive. also not crazy about the windows from 2nd floor into sunroom.
