We want to completely remodel our master bathroom. We have a 4 bdrm, 2 bath contemporary (for early 80's) single-level home in Clearwater, Florida. (exterior walls are block construction).
new fixtures and placement of them is key (shower, vanity/lav, tub?); all plumbing is currently within South wall, and tub drain is in SW corner.
must be complimentary to home, but not extravagant
would prefer to not replace existing arched window. Arched window is single-pane, and simple. It could be replaced with a rectangular window if that is more aesthetic.
skylight opening to ceiling can be relocated with Sono tube if appropriate, but not removed.
If a tub can be incorporated into the space, that could be a plus (not essential).
Single or double vanity
Toilet area cannot be altered or moved
Placement of tub, shower and vanities is open to designer
Begin with an empty space (walls may not be moved), however doorway to bath from master bdrm can be relocated left/right if appropriate. Door is currently a pocket door. If a swinging door will make the space more aesthetic, feel free to recommend.
Ceiling height is 10ft, same as Master bdrm ceiling (see photo).
Master bdrm currently has wall-to-wall carpeting and we are considering replacing it with new carpeting. The adjacent dining/living rooms will have wood laminate flooring. We prefer flooring in bath to be ceramic, but we’re open to suggestions if having a common floor with master bdrm makes more sense.
Valences/soffits on N and S walls can be demo'd. They currently house fluorescent lamps.
